Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Christmas wish they know will never happen

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to spend Christmas in Montecito with their two children and Meghan Markle's mum.

While they have not spoken outright about how they will spend the big day next month, it is believed the duke, 40, and duchess, 43, will be at their Montecito home with Meghan’s mum Doria, alongside their children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. n a recent chat with a fashion magazine, Meghan revealed how she loved the holidays, especially as the children were now old enough to understand what was going on. However, while the family are set to have a fun day, there is one Christmas wish the couple - who quit life as senior royals in 2020 - reportedly share that they know can never happen now. A source exclusively told OK! Magazine: “They both really wish that they could have all their families together and have a huge Christmas but they know that will never happen. So they have to make new memories and traditions with their children and those close to them.” This year marks the sixth year Prince Harry has not been with his own side of the family for the big day, with the prince having previously spent the special occasion at Sandringham along with the rest of the Royal Family. However, this has not happened since 2018, the same year he married Meghan Markle in a star-studded Windsor ceremony.

Canada Post strike hits charity fundraising during crucial holiday donation push

The Canada Post strike is expected to continue as parties remain “too far apart on critical issues” to reach a deal, according to Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon. In a post on X Wednesday, he said the special federal mediator has temporarily suspended his mediation. “This pause in mediation activities will hopefully permit the parties to reassess their positions and return to the bargaining table with renewed resolve,” reads the minister’s post. He wrote that he has asked the parties to meet at his office, where he will tell them that “they alone” are responsible to find a solution to the deadlock. “As soon as productive bargaining can begin anew, the special mediator will re-engage the parties. Canadians are counting on them to create these conditions quickly.” Speaking to reporters later in the day, MacKinnon said the government does not plan to force a result through binding arbitration, as it did when port workers went on strike earlier in November, and when rail workers went on strike in August. Still, he voiced his frustration that Canadians are still waiting on the Crown corporation to get back to business. “These parties have had access to the best mediation services that it is possible to have. They have had time. And it is like both parties don’t realize that the business plan, and business proposition, of Canada post hasn’t changed,” he said. “They need to reach a ratifiable agreement.” The strike began nearly two weeks ago. The postal workers’ union, CUPW, says it wants salaries brought in line with inflation, an increase in paid medical days, better benefits, and to prevent the company from using private contractors. In a recent progress update, the union said that a labour relations manager suggested Canada Post could contract out parcel delivery on weekends. “The comment was taken as a threat by CUPW Negotiators,” reads the summary. The union also wants Canada Post to hire more full-time staff, arguing that the company has steadily increased the number of temporary hours at most of its locations “despite retention problems and training costs during bargaining.” In its own update, Canada Post says it has maintained a robust full-time workforce despite falling revenue and serious market competition. “Approximately 95 per cent of delivery teams are full-time,” reads the emailed update, provided to CTV News on Tuesday evening. “Throughout these negotiations, Canada Post has put forward detailed proposals to bring more flexibility to its outdated, mail-based delivery model. These changes are necessary to better compete in the parcel business, better serve Canadians, and drive much-needed revenue growth.” The company evaluated its losses at more than $3 billion since 2018, adding that it incurred a $315 million pre-tax loss in the third quarter of 2024. Canada Post also said it has delivered an estimated 10 million fewer parcels since the strike began, based on last-year’s data.

Italy revokes over 3,000 applications from non-EU workers in smuggling crackdown

MILAN, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Italian police said on Thursday they had blocked and revoked 3,339 applications for the arrival of non-EU workers in Italy as part of an investigation into the smuggling of illegal immigrants by organised crime. The alleged false requests to hire non-EU labourers were submitted by 142 different Italian companies in the agriculture, construction, and home care sectors, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza police said in a joint statement. According to an investigation by anti-Mafia prosecutors in the southern city of Salerno, the companies were being used by several local criminal groups - from which one million euros ($1.05 million) in cash was already seized in July - to smuggle non-EU migrants into Italy. Police measures allow the 29 Italian provinces involved in the investigation to block issuing current permits and revoking those that had already been granted, the statement said. Italy's interior minister last month said the Group of Seven (G7) rich democracies will to set up specialised police units aimed at investigating migrant trafficking in order to tackle irregular flows. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's right-wing government, which holds the G7 rotating presidency this year, has sought cooperation with the European Union and African governments to crack down on human traffickers. Meloni last year signed a deal with Albania to build reception camps there, but the rulings taken so far by the Italian courts have frustrated the government's efforts to pursue its flagship plan to crackdown on irregular arrivals.

p says Mexico's president promised to close the border. She begs to differ.

In what looks like a case of “he said, she said,” President-elect Donald Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum appear to have starkly different recollections of a conversation that covered the hot-button issue of migration. After the phone chat late Wednesday, Trump wrote on social media that the Mexican leader had agreed to stop immigration through Mexico and to the United States. “Just had a wonderful conversation with the new President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. She has agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border,” he said in a post on Truth Social. “It was a very productive conversation!” Sheinbaum’s account differed from Trump’s. “In our conversation with President Trump, I explained to him the comprehensive strategy that Mexico has followed to address the migration phenomenon, respecting human rights,” she said on X. “We reiterate that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but instead build bridges between government and people.” Earlier, Sheinbaum said she’d had an “excellent conversation with President Donald Trump.” “I shared with him that caravans weren’t arriving at the northern border because they are being served in Mexico,” she said in the post, referring the large groups of migrants traveling together in hopes of reaching the U.S.

Taylor Swift fans slam Billboard for ‘undermining’ pop star’s achievements with Greatest Pop Star ranking

The magazine, which has been rolling out its list of “25 Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century,” revealed Swift as the number two spot on Tuesday (November 26). “After crossing over from country music to pop music at the turn of the 2010s, @taylorswift achieved success like we’ve never quite seen before, in either shape or size,” the outlet wrote on Instagram. “Billboard looks back at the century in Swift, who took pop stardom to places we hadn’t previously thought possible.” The “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer, 34, was ranked ahead of Rihanna (No. 3), Drake (No. 4) and Lady Gaga (No. 5). The list also includes Katy Perry (No. 25), Ed Sheeran (No. 24), Bad Bunny (No. 23) and One Direction (No. 22). While the outlet has yet to reveal its top artist, readers are expecting it to be BeyoncĂ©. According to the outlet, the list is completely subjective and all based on staff picks.
Still, fans are taking the rankings to heart, with Swifties flocking to Billboard’s Instagram post to slam the publication for not naming Swift as No. 1. “Taylor deserved #1,” one fan argued, while a second commented: “Shame on you, Billboard! Taylor Swift is redefining the music industry, shattering records, and transforming everything she touches. Yet, you felt the need to undermine her achievements. For any artist worldwide, #2 on your list would be a monumental accomplishment — except when it’s Taylor, the very reason your relevance endures.” “2nd? The only artist to occupy the entire top 10 of your chart twice,” a second noted, with a third writing: “Are you guys joking with this? Taylor deserved number 1 However, some fans reasoned that Swift’s ranking was fair, like one person who said: “If the list was based solely on charts and mathematics, we could say Taylor. But if we consider cultural impact, artistic influence, legacy, longevity, vocals, live performances, the greatest-of-all-time lists, the appreciation of her peers, that substantial aspect that goes beyond objective stats; it’s obviously BeyoncĂ©.” “Beyonce is great, no doubt,” another argued. “But Taylor is clear by all metrics. Sales? Streams? Tour? Etc, plus she holds several records. Taylor is clear by a landslide and she deserves number 1.” Earlier this month, Hailey Bieber mocked Billboard after it announced Justin Bieber was No. 7 on its list. “Billboard is a f***ing joke as per usual!” wrote Bieber’s wife of six years in a since-deleted comment below the post.

3 Oilers players who could be dangled in a potential trade

The Edmonton Oilers will be very involved in trade discussions in the months leading up to the NHL’s Trade Deadline, but who do they have to give up?
After a disappointing start to the season, the Oilers could use some reinforcements to their defensive group. It was reported late last month that Edmonton GM Stan Bowman was “aggressively” working the trade market to improve this Oilers team, and now we have our first target. The Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be on the verge of a fire sale after a poor start, with defenceman Marcus Pettersson being a likely candidate to be shipped out. The Athletic’s Josh Yohe, who covers the Penguins, mentioned that the Oilers have shown interest in the 28-year-old Swede. Yohe also mentioned that the Vancouver Canucks are showing interest alongside Edmonton. Pettersson is in the final year of a five-year contract that carries a cap hit of $4.025 million and has been among Pittsburgh’s best players early in the season. He is currently getting top-pairing minutes with the Penguins alongside Erik Karlsson. Pettersson has a goal and eight points in 20 games this season. Pettersson leads all regular Pittsburgh defenders with a 56.54 expected goals-for (xGF) and a 57.79 high-danger chances-for percentage (HDCF%) at five-on-five, according to Natural Stat Trick. Those rates would put him ahead of Darnell Nurse on the Oilers. Pittsburgh would be looking to bolster their defensive ranks in any trade that saw Pettersson go the other way. Edmonton could potentially send over a package that includes a first-round pick and perhaps one of Sam O’Reilly or Matt Savoie to entice Penguins GM Kyle Dubas. Savoie would most likely be the more appealing option, as he holds the distinction of being a former top-10 draft pick. Edmonton will have to be careful in offloading their top prospects; however, as the team’s pipeline for young talent is already quite bare, it is risky, considering Pettersson is set to become a free agent this summer. Outside of the cost, adding Pettersson would make a world of sense for the Oilers. He would slot in perfectly as a second-pair defenceman and plays a solid defensive style that should blend well with Nurse. The only issue is that the Swede is a left-handed defenceman, meaning one of him or Nurse would have to play their off-side to make that work. Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has shown a willingness to play defenceman on their off-side this year, with Brett Kulak playing RD beside Nurse despite being left-handed. Perhaps the same thing could be done with Pettersson. The NHL’s trade deadline is still months away, but it’s encouraging that Bowman is reportedly targeting a guy like Pettersson, as he represents a player who would go a long way toward filling some of Edmonton’s most glaring holes.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul was plagued by Netflix buffering issues, unrealistic expectations, and the disappointing reality of watching a boxing match between two unmatched opponents.
