Addressing a public gathering in the national capital, Bidhuri said, "Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father."
"This Marlena (Atishi) became Singh. She changed her name. Arvind Kejriwal swore on his children not to align with the corrupt Congress. Marlena changed her father. This reflects the character of the Aam Aadmi Party," Bidhuri said.
"Atishi Marlena's parents submitted a mercy petition against the death sentence of Afzal Guru, the terrorist responsible for the deaths of many of our brave soldiers. I want to ask the people of Delhi whether they want to support those who sought a pardon for Guru's death sentence," the BJP leader added.
Reacting to the personal attack on Delhi Chief Minister, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal took to X and said that BJP leaders have crossed all limits of shamelessness.
"BJP leaders have crossed all limits of shamelessness. BJP leaders are abusing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi ji. The people of Delhi will not tolerate the insult of a woman Chief Minister. All the women of Delhi will take revenge for this," Kejriwal said in a post in Hindi.
Bidhuri, a former BJP MP, had courted another controversy earlier in the day after he claimed that post his victory in the Delhi Assembly polls next month, he will develop smooth roads in the constituency like Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's 'cheeks', a remark that drew widespread criticism for his party.
"Lalu Yadav once famously claimed that he would make the roads of Bihar as smooth as Hema Malini's cheeks, but he failed to deliver on that promise. I assure you, however, that just as we have transformed the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will ensure that every road in Kalkaji is made as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks," Bidhuri was heard saying in a video which went viral on social media.
Several Congress leaders, including Alka Lamba, the candidate from Kalkaji and president of Mahila Congress, sharply criticized BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri for using "indecent language" and "insulting" women once again.
Bidhuri, who has courted controversies in the past too over his statements, faced widespread backlash for his derogatory remarks against the Wayanad MP, but initially remained defiant, comparing his comments to similar ones made by RJD leader Lalu Prasad about BJP MP Hema Malini.
However, after facing intense criticism, he later posted a message on X, expressing regret if his comments had caused offense and claiming that his words had been misconstrued by some for political purposes.
