It's been rumored for months now that Apple's next iPhone won't bring any significant changes, and today a new report from the Wall Street Journal has only furthered that sentiment.
The report backs up previous rumors by stating that the biggest change to the next iPhone, due in September, will be the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack. WSJ's sources say Apple plans to make the Lightning port the sole connector for both listening to audio and charging the phone.
Also as previously rumored, the report says next year's iPhone will be the one to bring a major design overhaul. An "edge-to-edge" OLED display that forgoes the traditional home button and has a fingerprint sensor baked in was mentioned in particular.
All of this only gives more reason to believe that the forthcoming iPhonewill be boring.
More rumors and reports are sure to arise as we get closer to the phone's launch, but if you need a new iPhone today, you should feel fairly confident you won't miss too much with an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, or SE. In fact, if you don't own a pair of Bluetooth headphones, you might be better off.
Otherwise, you'll likely want to wait until next year to see how Apple changes things up.
